National Standards for Disability Services
DES is changing to Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) from 1 November 2025CPG Australia has been conducting audits and offering Certification Services to disability employment and supported employment services (DES/SES), against the National Standards for Disability Services (2014) (NSDS) set down by the Australian Government for over two decades. Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) is a new specialist disability employment program that is replacing the Disability Employment Services program from 1 November 2025.
Providers Transitioning to IEA: For DES providers transitioning to IEA in November 2025 they will need to align their systems with the new IEA framework, demonstrate compliance during both audit stages, and maintain accreditation through ongoing surveillance. CPG can assist you to maintain your ongoing certification requirements.
New IEA providers: The Certification Audit is a two-stage audit, comprising a Stage 1 and separate Stage 2 audit against the National Standards for Disability Services (2014) (NSDS).
Stage 1 Audit – a review ofdocumentation and the self-assessment and is conducted as a desktop review.
Stage 2 Audit – an on-site compliance audit completed after stage 1 audit and looking at the implementation of processes and requirements.
There is an Annual Surveillance Audit – to confirm ongoing compliance and maintenance of certification.
Recertification Audit (every 3 years) – a full review of compliance requirements.
Consumers Inclusion/Involvement in Audit Process and Consent
Consumers must be offered information from the Client about the audit process, including interviews and must be offered independent advocacy support in order to engage in the audit. Consumers shall be invited by the Client to participate in the whole audit process including opening and closing meetings. This must be undertaken prior to any consent being obtained.
All consumers have the right to be involved in the audit process and respect of their decision either way will be given by CPG. Consent is required of the Consumer to be a part of the interview process and for the auditor/s to access their information, written consent is preferred. Where written consent is not obtained, CPG will record in the Client audit report the reason for this, and evidence supporting the assumption that consent was sought and has been obtained. CPG will ensure that consumers’ confidentiality and privacy is respected in all aspects of the audit, including sampling information, consent, interviews and consumer records.
Clients must ensure that consumers have access to appropriate independent advocacy services and support to be involved in the audit process.
